Before you leave for your trip, your group will need to decide on a few things. Each of you will need to fill the roles of researcher, photographer, and recorder.
Researcher
The researcher is in charge of gathering information on the animals, plants, and interesting facts in your biome and reporting the findings to the recorder.
Photographer
The photographer is in charge of finding the required photographes to compliment the researchers findings and report them to the recorder.
Recorder
The recorder is responsible for using the information gathered by the researcher and photographer to create the group power point.
It will be all group members job to read through the power point to make sure all required information is included and to proofread for spelling and grammar errors.
Now that you are all in your groups you need to make another big decision.... Where are you going to go?! You and your travel companions must now decide which of the following biomes you would like to travel to (remember you are only traveling to biomes located in North America):
Grasslands
Taiga
Tundra
Deciduous Forest
Desert
Rainforest
The following is a list of websites to aid you in your research (you are not limited to these sites):
Missouri Botanical Gardens- www.mbgnet.net
Biomes of North America- http://www.uen.org/utahlink/tours/tourFames.cgi?tour_id=14051
Neartica (Introduction to biomes)- www.neartica.com/ecology/habitats/biointro.htm
WorldBiomes- www.worldbiomes.com
Kimball's Biology Page- http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/B/Biomes.html
Enchanted Learning- http://www.enchantedlearning.com/biomes/
You can also find useful information in your textbook!!!
Once you have finished your research and picture taking you will need to put your power point together. Please use your rubric to guide you through this process. You will want to make sure you get full credit for the trip you have taken!!
When you have completed your power point, you will be sharing it with the class. Remember each page should be over an individual topic (i.e. plants, animals) and should be a detailed account of what you saw on that specific topic. Please use the biome power point template at the link below for the biome your group chose.
